NC Connected, Inc. offers a variety of in-school, after-school, summer and weekend programs designed to encourage girls to pursue careers in technology, to provide useful life skills, and to link girls to female mentors and expose them to many different career options.

The Girls Connected TechCamp program is a series of classes that teach the fundamentals of web design and development to girls ages 10 to 17. Some of the topics covered include:

  • HTML/XHTML
  • Digital Photography
  • Photoshop
  • Cascading Style Sheets
  • DreamWeaver MX
  • Flash
  • Adobe Premier
14 year old Katie teaching high school students web design at a technology camp on NC State University campus In addition to learning the technologies of web design and development, the girls in the Girls Connected TechCamp program deliver the training they've learned to future program participants. They also teach at local computer camps that use NCC curriculum. The girls work with real students and clients to gain hands-on experience in the following areas:
  • Meeting with clients
  • Presenting Ideas and Designs
  • Working as a Team
  • Meeting Deadlines
  • Delivering Computer Training


The Girls Connected TechCamp program is our flagship program and is a prerequisite for involvement in most other NC Connected programs and activities.
