Boondocks Media School is an outreach program of NC Connected, Inc.
designed to bring technical training opportunities to children in the rural and
at-risk areas of North Carolina.
Boondocks Media School (BMS) is a mobile computer training program. In
conjunction with a local community partner, NCC sets up a computer lab in a
rural community and holds a week-long technology camp for children ages 10-17.
Training includes an introduction to web design using
HTML and CSS. Digital photography, photo retouching, and video editing
are also introduced. Boondocks Media School classes are led and/or facilitated by
graduates of NC Connected's Girls Connected TechCamp program and by previous Boondocks Media
School graduates.
Because we believe in providing exposure to positive role models, participants
in this program are offered opportunities, throughout the year, to network with
successful women across the state through field trips, community service projects,
and sponsored mentored outings.
