Programs — NCC Mentors

The NCC Mentors program is designed to cultivate new leaders, to share learning experiences across generations, and to engage girls in career exploration and planning. In the NCC Mentors Program, the NC Connected program participants are introduced to female mentors in a variety of careers.

Each NCC mentor has agreed to support the participants in the NC Connected programs in the following ways:

• by sharing her personal/professional profile on NC Connected's web site,
• by allowing the girls a site visit to her workplace where possible,
and
• by providing mentoring, ongoing support, and additional information to individual girls who express interest in the mentor's particular area of expertise.

Mentor of the Month

Each month a mentor is showcased in our Mentor of the Month profile. A direct link to that mentor's profile and web site (if applicable) is provided from NC Connected's web site to the mentors site.

Meet the Mentors Dinner

Annually, NC Connected hosts a Meet the Mentors dinner where the girls in the program join as many mentors as possible for dinner, conversation, and support. At the dinner, each program participant is given the opportunity to give a short speech sharing her experiences in NC Connected's programs.

Mentor Outings

As part of the NCC Mentoring Program, Denise Tawwab and NCC board member, Sharon Potter took two NC Connected students, to R. B. Harrison Library to meet the award winning author, Lesa Cline-Ransome and illustrator of children's books, James E. Ransome.

The husband and wife team spoke at length to the students present. They shared stories and the creative process behind the many children's books that they have written and/or illustrated.
