Denise Tawwab, Founder/Executive Director
Denise D. Tawwab, NC Connected, Inc.'s founder and Executive Director, started NC Connected in
January 2003 to empower young girls by teaching them web programming and design, digital photography, graphics,
video editing, and other internet-related technologies. She also facilitates networking with female role models and mentors, and provides opportunities for the girls to participate in community service projects.
Drawing on her over 20 years as a computer trainer, instructional designer, and training project
manager, Denise works with a number of excellent volunteers to deliver training in all aspects of
web site design and multimedia development.
Denise also encourages young women to enter careers in technology by
providing exposure to opportunities, by encouraging mentoring relationships between students and
female role models, and by fostering collaboration with local organizations.
Actively interested in bridging the digital divide, Denise consults with local churches and
agencies that serve disadvantaged communities to help them set up computer labs, establish
computer training programs, develop an online presence, and otherwise empower members of
disadvantaged communities using technology.
Denise has completed projects for GlaxoSmithKline, Cisco, Nortel Networks, Productivity Point International,
IBM, 4-H Youth Development, the Girl Scouts, and the Boys & Girls Club.
Among other credentials, Denise holds a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC-Wilmington
and a Certificate in Non-profit Management from Duke University. She is also a Certified Internet Webmaster and a Certified Internet Instructor.
